The flop A 3 J seemed to end the suspense. Einsidler hit a set of aces and was in an unbeatable position. But the 7 on the turn added a considerable dose of drama: Black, thanks to the K, now had a flush draw and could complete one of those bad beats that are talked about for years.
The river was a harmless 2. No clubs, miracles, or daggers. Einsidler secured the triple-up and could breathe again.
Karmires had already stood up and packed his bag before the community cards were revealed. This time, the classic “bag trick” didn’t produce any miracle and he was eliminated shortly after.
“If a club had come on the river, it would have ruined my day,” Einsidler admitted.
