Can you imagine sitting down to play a poker game several meters deep, surrounded by fish and with a shark as the dealer? Although it seems like a scene from a movie, there is a casino that comes quite close to that fantasy.

The ship was specially prepared before being taken to the bottom of the sea. Inside, casino-related elements were installed, including poker tables, slot machines, and various sculptures.
But the most striking thing is outside: among the ship’s structures are shark sculptures designed as if they were dealing cards, a perfect postcard for divers who visit the place.
A casino that does not receive players
Of course, there is a catch: no one can actually sit down to play a hand of poker down there.
The Lady Luck is not an operational casino but an artificial reef created from the sunken ship. The casino elements are part of the decoration and the theme of the shipwreck, which was designed to become an attraction for divers.
The project is part of Shipwreck Park, an initiative that uses sunken ships to create new habitats for marine life and, at the same time, generate points of interest for underwater tourism.

The idea is that over time the ship will be colonized by different marine species and end up becoming part of the ocean floor ecosystem.
From tanker to underwater poker table
The Lady Luck has a rather unique history. Before becoming a reef, it was a former New York sludge tanker. After being conditioned and cleaned for its new function, it ended up at the bottom of the Atlantic off Florida.
Now, those who dive can explore its different sections and find a combination that is hardly seen anywhere else: poker tables, slot machines, cards, player sculptures, and sharks mixed with fish and other marine species.
The image of a shark in front of a poker table is perhaps the best summary of the idea.
The project is not only meant to attract attention. Deliberately sunk ships are used as artificial reefs, as their structures serve as shelter and surfaces for marine organisms to settle.
Thus, the Lady Luck has a double life: above water it was a ship; underwater it became a reef and a curious themed attraction.
