Jack Lee: perdió US$1,5 millones en su debut y hoy es una estrella del poker coreano

How much would you be willing to lose in your first big poker session before deciding that maybe this is not for you? For Chang “Jack” Lee

Corea Del Sur
, the answer was quite extreme: US$1.5 million. And, interestingly, that disaster ended up being the beginning of one of the most striking stories on the current circuit.

Lee shared his unique journey in an interview conducted by Poker.org during the recent APT Incheon. A businessman connected with ventures in Japan, Hong Kong, and San Francisco, he started playing poker mainly as a tool for networking. The networking, however, ended up being quite costly.

His first big experience at Hustler Casino Live ended with losses of US$1.5 million. Far from giving up, Lee decided to study. He consumed streams, started working with GTO Wizard, and later discovered tournaments.

And that’s where the plot twist appeared.

At the WSOP, practically as an unknown, he entered the US$25K High Roller and surpassed a field of 392 entries to win his first bracelet and nearly US$2 million.

His philosophy doesn’t seem too complicated either: he loves to say “all-in.” According to him, tournaments allow him to exploit fold equity and apply pressure especially near bubbles and final tables. Cash games, on the other hand, require a patience he doesn’t always enjoy.

Success even played a small trick on him. After the bracelet, he thought “poker was easy”, returned to Hustler, and lost big again. But he kept studying and during 2026 the results began to multiply.

He was second in the US$50K High Roller at the WSOP for nearly US$1.3 million, won US$464K in his return to the Million Dollar Game, and estimates having earned more than US$5 million in cash games during the summer.

The last piece came at home: he won the APT Incheon High Roller, surpassed 154 entries, cashed US$141K, and finally lifted the coveted Mega Lion.

It seems that first session was costly. But it was also a pretty effective enrollment.
