managed to make it to the final table of the iconic GGMasters tournament on the international platform of GGPoker which is running its highly anticipated event World Festival (GGWF), where he had to maneuver a short stack with which he could not get the expected double-up to continue fighting for the championship title. Nevertheless, his outstanding performance earned him a very good reward of US$14,596 (MXN$255,816).

The GGPoker World Festival just started its schedule this Sunday, May 3, and will run until June 9, 2026, offering four categories of play: Low, Medium, High, and Super and guaranteeing the exorbitant amount of US$300,000,000 to be distributed in its 375 tournaments scheduled on the agenda. This makes it the largest online series in history and it is already providing daily action on its tables.

The tournament that interests us here was the Event #8: $150 GGMasters, $1M GTD (2-Day Event), which featured a very attractive guaranteed prize pool of US$1,000,000 accessible with a relatively low buy-in of only US$150. The tournament was played in Freezeout format, meaning there were no re-entries or add-ons available. In this way, it managed to register a total of 7,942 entries, significantly surpassing its minimum quota and distributing a total of US$1,096,824 among its most skilled participants.

Erick Tovar continues his consolidation towards professionalization as a poker player

Originally from the city of Monterrey, in northern Mexico, Tovar became known nationally when in March 2024 he was crowned champion of the Main Event of the Palace Series of Poker at the Casino Palace in Mexico City, a title that still makes him the greatest champion of this national festival, having claimed the significant amount of MXN$1,820,000 as a reward, after defeating Tomás Szwarcberg in the final heads-up

With a good and solid presence in the competitive world of online poker, the player known as «pelosneciosx10», thanks to the US$14,596 claimed for his 9th place at this final table, Erick has managed to sign one of his best results in the virtual realm, and although it does not surpass his achievement related to live poker, it does add considerably to his resume, strengthening his consolidation as a professional Mexican player and building a solid ground with strong foundations for the future, which currently looks quite promising.

In his own words, he shared regarding this feat of achieving a deep run in such an important tournament as the Sunday GGMasters and within the context of the largest online poker festival in history:
“I am very excited and happy about what poker is experiencing in Mexico, not only for me but for all the friends and acquaintances who are dedicating themselves professionally and that we are increasingly close to hitting this type of cashes which are a great feat. It is a boost for me and all the players who are fighting to professionalize our activity on the tables.”
