The SiGMA Poker Tour Main Event began with plenty of action at the Monte Carlo club in São Paulo and it didn’t start with Day 1A but with the so-called Promo Day. Thus, the tournament opening gathered 100 players (plus 34 re-entries) in search of a spot in Day 2 of the event with R$ 1.000.000 guaranteed and finished just this Friday morning, after a true marathon.
With a reduced buy-in of R$ 2.000, the Promo Day served as an entry point to the series’ main tournament. The other starting days continue with a regular entry of R$ 2.500. As planned in the regulations, play continued until the ITM, rewarding 15% of the total players. At the end of nearly 14 hours of play, 15 players remained qualified.
The big highlight of the day was Helton Richard , who bagged an impressive 1.460.000 chips (183 big blinds) and finished as the absolute leader of the qualifier. Behind him were Lucas Portella , with 665.500 (83 big blinds), and Munir Berno , with 481.000 (60 big blinds), completing the top 3 of the chip count.
The hand that closed the Promo Day defined not only the last eliminated player but also the formation of the ITM. After being left with less than 1 blind, Marcelo Giordano announced all-in and received calls from the button, small blind, and big blind players.
