Stu won the WSOP Main Event twice in a row. After becoming champion in 1980 and 1981, he was considered a true card genius. He really seemed unbeatable. However, from that point on, his life became severely affected by addiction problems, which led to a deep downfall from which he seemed unable to recover.

In 1997, Stu Ungar got a friend to finance the $10,000 entry fee for the Main Event. One last chance to prove that, despite his countless physical and psychological problems, he still had something to give to poker. What followed was one of the greatest displays of talent in a poker tournament.
Almost as if no day had passed, the old Stu from the ’80s was back. With masterful plays and sharper reading skills than ever, Stu Ungar outplayed the best players in the world to win his third world title. The achievement earned him the nickname “The Comeback Kid” and his performance remains in the memory of all poker lovers.
