Maurice Hawkins expands his legend and wins a historic 25th WSOP Circuit ring

While many players dream of winning a single World Series of Poker Circuit ring, Maurice Hawkins

United States
has just raised the record to a level hard to imagine. The American won his 25th WSOPC ring after prevailing in the Event #9 at Harrah’s Cherokee, a $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em that gathered 631 entries and awarded the champion $113,223.

The victory came last Friday, May 15, allowing him to continue expanding a mark that already seemed unreachable. Just six weeks earlier he had won his 24th title, and now he has pulled even further ahead of his closest pursuers: Ari Engel

Canada
and Daniel Lowery
United States
, both with 20 rings.

The win was not easy. Hawkins had to overcome James Calderaro

United States
in the final heads-up, a WSOP bracelet winner and WPT champion, who took $75,460 for second place. However, once again, the spotlight ended up on Hawkins, a player who generates admiration for his results and controversy for his off-table history.

Hawkins is unstoppable

2026 has been particularly explosive for him. He already has four WSOP Circuit titles in just five months: two won at Horseshoe Tunica, another at Grand Victoria Casino in Illinois, and now this new victory in Cherokee. His ability to dominate medium fields and accessible buy-in events has been a constant for more than 15 years.

Hawkins’ first circuit win came in 2008 at Harrah’s Atlantic City. Since then, he has accumulated victories at iconic venues such as Caesars Palace, Palm Beach Kennel Club, and multiple stops at Cherokee and Tunica. He even achieved several doubles in the same year and Main Event titles that reinforced his reputation as one of the greatest WSOPC specialists.

But his figure continues to divide opinions. Public problems with backers and some personal incidents, including a reported physical confrontation in 2025, keep Hawkins as one of the most discussed characters in the US circuit. Still, the numbers speak for themselves: no one in history has won as many WSOP Circuit rings as he has.
