Nik Airball Tried To Bluff Antonius, But Was Unsuccessful
Airball and Antonius crossed paths again later in a few hands. One of the most significant occurred when Antonius decided to open for US$2.000 with A 8. Airball called with 9 7 and the flop showed 8 3 7. After Nik’s check, Antonius continued for another US$5.000, which was quickly called. The 3 appeared on the turn and the action repeated, only this time the bet was US$11.000.
The J on the river confirmed Antonius’s advantage, but there was still one street left to play. Airball didn’t try anything unusual and decided to check, knowing it wouldn’t be easy to deceive the Finn. Finally, Antonius placed a bet of US$19.000, which was enough to make his rival fold and take the US$36.800 pot.
The night continued without too many surprises for the Finnish pro, who closed the session with a stack of US$109.900, nearly US$60.000 in net winnings.
