
Investigations continue into the case of illegal poker games among NBA players and coaches. At the end of 2025, the FBI imprisoned dozens of people involved in an illegal betting ring that ranged from match-fixing to the sale of insider information and the recruitment of victims for rigged poker games. This week, one of the accused, Curtis “Curt” Meeks

“The court previously warned him, but he continued to breach the order,” the judge explained. “The court concludes that it is unlikely he will comply with the conditions for his release,” he concluded.
Meeks, for his part, argued that his arrest “is not necessary to ensure court appearance or public safety.” His lawyers stated that “the defendant presents no flight risk and has never missed a court date. He is a licensed boxing representative and real estate operator, whose legal employment requires flexibility and responsiveness.”
Finally, Pretrial Services noted that Meeks is expected to “begin serving a state sentence in Texas in the near future, in which case the government has expressed its intention to place him in federal custody.”
Everything seems to be getting complicated for one of those involved in one of the largest illegal betting scandals in the history of North American sports.
