iPhone Duo: el plegable de Apple que podría convertirse en una mesa de poker de bolsillo

The iPhone Duo is now a reality and, beyond being Apple’s first foldable phone, there is a niche that could quickly find an interesting use for it: online poker players.

Presented this Wednesday, the new device works as a relatively compact iPhone when closed, thanks to its 5.4-inch exterior OLED Super Retina XDR display. But when opened, its great weapon appears: a 7.6-inch foldable panel, 1,878 x 2,670 pixel resolution, ProMotion up to 120 Hz, and up to 3,000 nits of brightness outdoors.

Translated into grinder language: more space to play without having to carry a tablet or notebook.

The format can be especially comfortable for poker applications optimized for iOS. A table could practically use the entire inner screen, allowing cards, stacks, bets, and buttons to be displayed larger.

But the real potential appears with Split View, the multitasking adapted by Apple for the foldable format. Thus, it would be possible to keep a table open while consulting another compatible app, statistics, notes, or simply checking CodigoPoker without completely leaving the action.

Under the hood is the new 2-nanometer A20 Pro, accompanied by a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU, and a vapor chamber cooling system designed precisely to maintain performance during demanding sessions. Apple also assures that the Duo improves sustained performance by up to 35% compared to the iPhone 17 Pro.

For the Latin player, there is another interesting detail: mobility. The Duo uses eSIM exclusively, allows two active lines, and stores eight or more profiles, something practical for those who travel between countries for poker circuits.

It won’t be cheap: starting at US$1,999, but we already know that in the Latin market it could be a bit higher, and it will arrive on October 23.

But the concept is attractive. A phone closed for everyday use and, when opened, a screen close to a small tablet to grind from the airport, hotel, or sofa.

Perhaps Apple did not design the iPhone Duo thinking about poker. But grinders will surely find a way to bring it to the tables.
