
A San Francisco Superior Court judge temporarily blocked the controversial “blackjack ban”, a measure aimed at the prohibition of “blackjack-style games” in California card rooms. This measure could lead to significant job losses if implemented.
The regulation was proposed by Attorney General Rob Bonta 

The ruling is temporary, but for now allows Californians to continue enjoying some of the state’s most popular table games. The California Gaming Association was one of the main opponents of the proposal, arguing that losses of $396 million would be projected if implemented, generating profits for illegal gambling houses.

“These regulations were driven by pressure from powerful illegal gambling interests that have long sought to eliminate legal competition from California poker rooms,” said Kyle Kirkland 
The preliminary injunction would remain in effect until July 5 and a new hearing is scheduled for June 30, where it will be reviewed whether the regulation comes into force or if card games can continue operating normally in California.
