The brutal robbery suffered by Jared Griener
The case had huge repercussions in July. Griener returned on the 12th of that month to the accommodation he was renting in Las Vegas after withdrawing his WSOP winnings and, according to his report, found two men waiting for him inside. The attackers subdued him, immobilized him with adhesive tape, threatened him, and escaped with a backpack containing his bankroll.
The American had earned four cashes totaling US$78,280 during the WSOP, including the US$57,500 prize for finishing 218th in the Main Event. At that time, he did not specify exactly how much money he had in the backpack and limited himself to stating that it contained his entire bankroll.
The images that could unlock the case
The news emerged now with the publication of images obtained from surveillance cameras. According to the investigation, a dark gray SUV parked nearby and the two suspects walked towards the property. About 20 minutes later they returned to the vehicle, this time carrying a backpack. So far, there have been no arrests.

One of the points still under investigation is how they managed to enter the accommodation. Griener had said that the door was closed when he arrived and that the men were already inside. He also claimed they seemed to know the access code. The owner stated that there were no obvious signs of forced entry, while several people had access to the code during the weeks the property was rented.
Griener has now shared the Police’s request and again asked for help to find those responsible. Las Vegas authorities keep the investigation open and requested that anyone who can recognize the men provide information.
