A traditional casino in Argentina removes the felt tables and keeps only the slot machines – CodigoPoker

The decision was made by the board of the Provincial Institute of Games and Casinos (IPJyC) through Resolution No. 473/2026, as part of the restructuring process of the agency carried out by the Government of Mendoza. The declared objective of the reform is to adapt the institute’s structure and move towards financial balance.

Casino de Mendoza: from cloth tables to machines

The traditional image of the Mendoza casino has changed: the tables where roulette, blackjack, and poker games were played for years have stopped operating and the spotlight has shifted to slot machines.

The measure affects the traditional gaming sector of the Casino de Mendoza and also involves a restructuring of its staff. There were 81 employees working there, who now have different options in light of the closure: they can opt for voluntary retirement, choose a relocation within the State or the Institute itself, or enter a six-month availability period with pay.

The voluntary retirement will be available until October 1 and includes a 120% severance payment, according to Diario Uno based on the conditions established for the process.

The transformation occurs at a time when the IPJyC is undergoing a broader reorganization. The provincial government had raised the need to modify areas, functions, and structures of the agency to improve its financial sustainability, in a context also marked by the loss of activity of one of its operational units.

The change also reflects a transformation in the gaming business: slot machines take center stage while traditional table games disappear from the Casino de Mendoza.

However, the decision does not mean that cloth tables have disappeared throughout the province. Other private casinos in Mendoza currently maintain roulette, blackjack, and poker among their offerings.

For the player who frequented the Casino de Mendoza, the change is concrete: they will no longer be able to sit at a roulette table, wait for blackjack cards, or participate in a poker game in that room. The cloth tables are gone and slot machines have become the main attraction.
