It has been some time since the legendary Argentine player Juan Martín Pastor
Until yesterday, Pastorcito’s latest posts focused on the lifestyle aspect of the poker player. His messages always highlighted the importance of building a healthy routine, arriving in good condition to sessions, and achieving optimal mental clarity to perform better. In this new section, Juan dives fully into the technical and strategic analysis of the game. And, to start, he gave a first analysis of a very particular spot.
“The spot we are going to start looking at is when we open (from the button) and the BB defends,” explains Pastorcito at the beginning of his video.

The images show a spot where the button opens x3 BB with 7 7 and a stack of 160.3 BB and the big blind calls. “For some reason at that point I was opening to 3 BB, and we are going to focus on what happens post-flop. The first thing we are going to see is this type of textures, which are low connected,” Pastor clarifies.
The video shows that the flop comes 6 4 5 and Pastor begins to analyze its texture, stating that they are not favorable for the player who opens because they do not connect with many of the hands in his range and, moreover, they usually change the equities a lot on the turn, further devaluing the player’s over pairs.
Throughout the reel, Juan Martin analyzes every detail of the hand, explaining how the board cards and the opponent’s decisions directly affect the bet sizing we should use and the actions we should take.
