The 15th season of High Stakes Poker not only showed us a multitude of exciting hands to review and new rivalries among the top cash game competitors. It also left, as often happens in cash games, a large number of anecdotes and good stories to remember. One of the most striking was the one told by Andrew Robl

United States
about Michael Jordan
United States
and his fondness for betting.

The person responsible for getting the story out of Robl was his namesake, Andrew Pacheco

United States
. The player is not one of the most active at the table, but he is good as a wing-man for those who do take the lead, like Robl. “Did you ever play with him? With Michael Jordan?” Pacheco asked innocently. No one expected this to trigger a memorable anecdote.

“I played with him once, yes,” Robl replied. “He didn’t pay you?” joked Steve Swedlow

United States
, making the whole table laugh. “He’s not watching this, so don’t worry,” he added with a laugh. “Michael Jordan is an honorable man,” Robl said. And he continued with the rest of the story.

Andrew Robl Has Played With Michael Jordan.

“In that poker game, Michael was friends with a friend of mine, Al. And they had a very particular relationship where they only saw each other once a year. And every time they saw each other, they played high card for US$50,000,” Andrew explained. “Once Michael beat him like seven times in a row, so they made a rule. Al would draw two cards and Michael only one.”

“Then Michael was playing with us for an hour or two. There were about 800 people in the stands watching us; every time Michael Jordan sits at a table, 800 people show up to watch. The US$50K game came up, and Michael chose his card. Al chose his two cards and turned over a 5 and a King. Confidently, he said, ‘Finally, I’m going to beat you,’ but then Michael turned over an Ace of Diamonds and won the bet,” Robl concluded.

Will we be able to see Jordan participating in any major tournaments in the near future? It is known that he likes betting. Perhaps, when boredom strikes him, we will see him on the most prestigious felt in the world alongside Robl and his friends.
