For some time now, there has been a debate in the poker world about solvers. These software programs designed to simulate hands have become one of the preferred study methods for professional players, and they have also become the terror of conservatives. Some believe that machines will eventually replace the human element of the game. However, players like Benjamin Rolle
The German Pro, an ambassador for CoinPoker, has always emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work to achieve his goals. That is why, for him, solvers will never be able to make undisciplined players good. The danger of all players becoming GTO machines is not real because, simply put, not all players study that much.
In an extensive post on his X account, Benjamin wrote…
Can you still win at poker with AI and solvers getting better year after year? Honestly, I’m not worried at all.
I’m not worried about improvement tools like solvers, AI, and whatever comes next. In fact, I think they make lazy people even easier to beat. Most people don’t see them as tools, but as shortcuts.
‘Let’s look at a couple of simulations and we’ll win at poker.’ This creates many more losing players than winners. Instead of doing the hard work, they try to skip it. After all, the solver does all the work for them now, right?
Tools only work if they are used appropriately. And ‘appropriately’ still involves a lot of thinking, studying, failing, and adjusting. That part hasn’t changed. But these tools sell the idea that you can skip all that. People hate hard work. They like magic pills.
Don’t get me wrong, if used correctly, they can certainly improve you a lot.
We’ve seen this pattern before. Social media was full of ‘get rich quick’ stories. Now it’s AI. Suddenly, everyone thinks they can build a business or win at poker using a tool or a magic pill.

You’ll always see people who manage to make it work. Those are the stories that get shared everywhere and create the illusion that shortcuts exist. They just got lucky. What they don’t show you is the other 99% of people who tried the same thing and failed.
Used correctly, these tools are amazing. But most people just log in and expect the tool to do all the thinking for them. But it doesn’t. It never did. The work is still there.
It makes bad players even easier to beat.
And even when you tell someone that looking at solver solutions on a screen won’t magically turn them into good players, they resist. They feel ashamed to admit they’ve been trying something that doesn’t work.
Call them ChatGPT, solvers, or any AI tool. They are multipliers. They can speed things up. They can finish shaping hard work. But they can’t replace it.
There is no course, solver, or tool that does all the work for you. Not even my courses, not solvers, nor any magic AI tool.
Shortcuts don’t exist. They never did.
I’ve seen more decent players become GTO-brainwashed than people using the tools correctly and actually improving thanks to GTO.
Poker can still be won. But in the same way it always has been: with real work, real thinking, and patience. And those tools can multiply your results, if you do the right thing.
