David Kozma won the NVTX championship title

The most important tournament of this tenth edition of the Nuevo Vallarta Tour on its tenth anniversary (NVTX) has concluded, and David Kozma

Hungary
prevailed over a sea of local players to claim the important title of champion of this iconic series in the Riviera Nayarita. In the final heads-up, he defeated Eloy Castro
Mexico
to claim the largest trophy in play, in addition to a cash prize of MXN$1,031,500.

A long journey that included six starting flights during the week and a total of 787 entries registered overall, led us to the exciting final stretch of this series’ Main Event, where only 80 competitors managed to cash. Some notable players who secured a small portion of the prize pool were Josué Aguirre

Mexico
(76th – MXN$18,850), Cristóbal Miranda
Mexico
(71st – MXN$18,850), and Mauro Ávila
Mexico
(61st – MXN$22,050), among others.

Towards the end of Day 2. Ediberto Pilotin

Mexico
had a standout performance, taking the chip lead with 4,600,000 points. Day 3 looked promising for all participants; however, only nine of them secured a seat at the highly anticipated final table of the series’ main event, which featured the presence of players of the caliber of Joel Treviño

, Diego Ponce

, and Alexis Hayek
Mexico
.

Main Event Final Table Nvtx

David Kozma gained significant momentum at the start of Day 3 to lead the final table

One of the key moments that defined the course of action on Day 3 of this competition was the confrontation between Pilotin and Kozma himself. Pilotin opened from the BTN with his A K, and on a 6 K 3 2 3 board, his top pair with a good kicker paled in comparison to his opponent’s straight, which connected on the fourth community card, leaving him with no chance to win the pass. From there, with almost seven million points, it was difficult to stop him on his path to the tournament championship title.

In the end, the elimination of Martín Torres

Mexico
defined the podium where Joel Treviño and Eloy Castro attempted to face their opponent. However, in an unfortunate encounter between the two, Joel ended up losing all his chips in a preflop all-in where his A 10 clashed against his opponent’s superior A Q.

The final heads-up between Castro and Kozma did not last long, as the Hungarian player’s massive chip lead weighed heavily. In the final hand, the Mexican had a slight advantage when his K 9 dominated David’s K 7, who ended up hitting two pair on the last flop dealt in the tournament. For his feat, David Kozma claimed the largest trophy in play, as well as a substantial reward of MXN$1,031,500.
