After such a long wait, live poker is opening its doors again in Chile 🇨🇱. And it was about time! With only one week left until the start, expectations are growing, and for good reason. The Ovalle Series of Poker, known as OSOP, will make its debut at the Ovalle Casino & Resort with an ambitious proposal that aims to establish itself strongly on the national scene in what promises to be one of the great engines of the 2026 calendar.

The series includes main events divided into OSOP Elite, OSOP Prime, and One Day categories, as well as an annual ranking with epic prizes and side action every day of the festival, and will feature coverage from CodigoPoker via liveblog.

The Main Event that restarts poker in Chile

The OSOP Elite with a CLP$700K buy-in and CLP$400K re-entry, will have three quarterly dates —from April 14 to 19, July 7 to 12, and September 29 to October 4— plus a Grand Final, with a value yet to be defined, from December 14 to 20, and below you can see all its details:

A luxury ranking with international flair

But the big draw isn’t just playing again. It’s what’s being put on the table. The OSOP 2026 annual ranking will reward the champion with a brand new JAECOO 5, while the second place will receive a buy-in for the WSOP Las Vegas 2027. The third place will get an OSOP Elite 2027 experience with four packages, including the Main Event buy-in and five nights of accommodation, while the fourth will take home a full season of OSOP Prime 2027.

In other words: here you’re not just playing for a cash, but for a whole year of prestige, projection, and a big prize. This information appears on page 4 of the official document.

The scoring system also seeks to give the project sporting seriousness. The score is calculated based on buy-in, number of players, and final position, with multipliers for higher-tier events.

Even those who don’t make it into the money won’t leave empty-handed: the circuit establishes that it will guarantee one-third of the minimum participation score. It’s a smart way to reward consistency and prevent a bad day from wiping off the map those who support the circuit date after date.

Ovalle, the mecca of Chilean poker

And the chosen setting is no small matter. Ovalle, in the Coquimbo Region, doesn’t just offer a casino: it also provides context, identity, and scenery. The city is linked to the heritage of the Limarí Valley and attractions such as the Limarí Museum, which houses important archaeological collections of the Diaguita culture, as well as the Valle del Encanto, a national monument located about 20 kilometers from the city and famous for its petroglyphs and pre-Hispanic pictographs. Added to this is the proximity to the Fray Jorge Forest National Park, one of the region’s natural jewels.

As if that weren’t enough, the OSOP also announces cash game tables open every day of the event and sit and go tournaments that will start as soon as the spots are filled, guaranteeing constant action outside the main tournaments.

We will be there too. Because when live poker returns to the country, it’s not enough to watch the flop from afar: you have to sit in the front row and tell the story as it should be told.
