Elizabeth Chen

China
had already given clear signs that she was destined for great things. In May of last year, during the Triton Poker stop in Montenegro, the Chinese player surprised the world by making the final table of the demanding US$125.000 Main Event, where she finished ninth and pocketed US$478.000 against one of the toughest fields on the circuit. That performance marked her as a player to watch. Now, in Jeju, she has fully confirmed why.

Late Sunday night, in the second Triton ONE festival in history, Chen took the title of the US$3.000 One-W Championship, a new tournament exclusive to women within the series schedule. And it couldn’t have come at a more special time: she did it right on International Women’s Day, adding extra symbolic value to an already very important victory.

The tournament gathered 67 entries, of which 17 were re-entries, and had several protagonists fighting until the end. However, during much of the final stages, it seemed the trophy had a first and last name: Lili Tang

China
. The player dominated a good part of the final table and reached a lead that seemed impossible to overcome. But in poker, as in life, nothing is written until the last card.

Chen kept her cool, waited for her moments, and built her comeback with patience. When the tournament was down to three players, she managed to eliminate Methavee Taveekitvatee

Malasia
in third place and then faced Tang in the final heads-up. There, a massive cooler ended up tipping the scales in her favor and sealed a triumph that is already one of the powerful images of this March 8th.

For the win, Elizabeth Chen took home US$49.000, while Lili Tang had to settle for US$35.100. Beyond the prize, the message was even greater: on a day that celebrates the struggle, visibility, and talent of women, Chen responded with what speaks best at the tables: cards, chips, and a title.
