The board is moving at one of the giants of the online gaming industry. Flutter Entertainment, owner of PokerStars, FanDuel, Paddy Power, Betfair, and Sky Bet, announced that Peter Jackson
Jackson will remain as an advisor until the end of the year, while Taylor, appointed president of Flutter in May, will take command at a particularly delicate moment. The executive had already been leading the improvement plan for FanDuel and the group’s international operations.
The change coincides with a second quarter that raised several alarms. Flutter recorded losses of US$296 million, compared to the US$37 million profit obtained in the same period last year. Quarterly sales fell 6% and revenues from sports betting dropped 15%.
The stock market reaction was not kind either: shares accumulated a 14% drop during August and fell another 5.2% after the results were announced.
Not everything was negative. Global revenues grew 3%, reaching US$4.33 billion, while the international business advanced 10%. Brazil stood out especially with a 64% growth, while Central and Eastern Europe rose 16%.

PokerStars Is Losing Ground.
And PokerStars? Here appears another headache
Flutter acknowledged a “general decline in activity” on the global PokerStars platform, a trend it is trying to reverse by integrating the room into larger ecosystems. In North America, for example, PokerStars was incorporated into the FanDuel platform.
The transformation had a cost: during the second quarter, US$120 million in restructuring and integration costs were recorded. The bet is that the process will generate annualized savings of US$300 million by the end of 2026.
The adjustment, however, already has human consequences. PokerStars recently announced more than 100 layoffs that will affect operations centers in Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Dan Taylor will thus receive a gigantic company, but with several open tables at the same time. And at PokerStars, some of those hands are already starting to demand important decisions.
