From online poker to a floating palace: PokerStars founder sells his yacht for US$152 million

How many poker hands does it take to buy a US$152.5 million yacht? Probably too many. But for Mark Scheinberg

Israel
Canada
, co-founder of PokerStars and one of the richest entrepreneurs linked to the gaming industry, the question makes a bit more sense.

The Israeli-Canadian billionaire put up for sale Synthesis, a 70-meter superyacht built by the prestigious Dutch shipyard Amels. The asking price reaches US$152.5 million, a figure capable of turning any luxury mansion into a relatively modest purchase.

The vessel has six cabins and is practically conceived as a floating resort. It features spacious social areas, a fully equipped gym, kitchen, and rooms with finishes typical of a five-star hotel. All distributed on a ship designed to travel the world without giving up practically any comfort.

But the most curious thing is behind such a toy.

Scheinberg, now 53 years old, founded PokerStars in 2001 alongside his father, Isai Scheinberg, when online poker was still taking its first steps. During the following decade, the company became the largest poker room on the planet and a fundamental piece of the global poker boom.

The big business hit came in 2014, when the family sold PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker to Amaya Gaming for US$4.9 billion. A deal that definitively transformed the Scheinbergs into one of the great fortunes born from online gaming.

Mark then shifted part of his investments towards luxury tourism through Mohari Hospitality, a company involved in hotels, restaurants, and nightlife. His personal net worth currently exceeds US$5 billion.

has defended his entry into the Poker Hall of Fame for years, although he was again left out in 2026.

Now Synthesis is looking for a new owner. That said, it will have to be someone with a bankroll much deeper than what is needed to sit at any High Roller.
