Ilan Cohen tasted the honey of victory in the Main Event of this Spring Poker Series Cancun Edition which bid farewell to a great season marking the start of spring and giving way to the Holy Week holidays. After an agreement with Lázaro Hernández , Ilan kept the trophy with green tones and Huichol art decoration, heading to the cashier for a great reward that amounted to MXN$375.000.
The main event of the spring series that took place at Casino Palace Cancun had a guaranteed prize pool of MXN$2.000.000 which managed to attract a large field of both national and foreign players, mainly from Canada, Argentina, Venezuela, and Cuba, among others, who took advantage of the excellent season to play poker and also vacation in one of the main tourist destinations of our country.
With five qualifying flights available, the Main Event recorded a total of 479 entries to distribute its guarantee among the top 55 competitors, who secured a minimum of MXN$8.000 at the cashier. Some players recognized on the national scene who managed to make it into the money were Elicely Martínez (44° – MXN$9.000), Fernando Vázquez (36° – MXN$10.000), Fernando Islas (33° – MXN$10.000), Gustavo Jiménez (19° – MXN$11.000), Daniel Riestra (13° – MXN$20.000) and William Hernández (11° – MXN$26.000) who fell just a couple of steps short of making the final table.
