Two weeks ago, professional poker player James “Matt” Lushin

was found dead in his home in Indiana, United States. Until now, the perpetrator of his death was unknown, and after several days of investigation, authorities have found the first suspect.

According to a statement from the Westfield Police Department, male Ronald Dewayne Brown Jr. was arrested on March 27, charged with murder. It should be remembered that, initially, police had labeled the death as “suspicious,” later officially classifying it as a “homicide.”

Lushin’s passing had hit the local Indiana gaming community hard, as he was a well-loved and respected member of it. Matt had accumulated more than half a million dollars in prizes and achieved good results in several of the world’s most important tournaments, including the World Series Of Poker and the European Poker Tour, among others.

As if that weren’t enough, Matt Lushin also left behind a family who remembers him as “an extraordinary father who strove to be a role model.” To this day, his family, friends, and the community at large remain shocked by the event.

Police, for their part, have not provided details about the suspect other than his name and age. So far, the motives for the murder and his relationship with the victim are unknown.
