The Irish Poker Open Main Event continues to take shape at the Royal Dublin Society , and Day 1B marked a clear contrast to what happened in the initial flight. While in 1A the Latin presence had been practically non-existent, this time the region made its presence felt strongly and managed to put five representatives into Day 2 out of the 149 who advanced.
Hugo Gotuzzo (cover photo) was one of the standouts, bagging 250.000 chips and positioning himself well for the next phase. He was joined by a solid Brazilian quartet consisting of Fabio De Lima, who finished with 463.000 points; Marcelo Pereira, with 319.000; Victor Ponciaro, with 175.000, and Lauro Lysakowski, with 114.000.
Not everyone had the same luck. Sebastián Martínez , Jorge Ríos and Luciano Piaggesi were eliminated, the latter coming off a great recent performance after finishing 5° in the 8-Max High Roller.

At the top of the Day 1B count was Lawrence Penfold, who finished with an impressive stack of 796.000 chips to lead the flight. He was followed by Abel Pruchon (666.000) and Fraser Bellamy (665.000), in a top 10 loaded with deep stacks.
The tournament, which already had a solid start with 467 entries on Day 1A and added 709 this Wednesday, continues its schedule of daily initial flights until Saturday, April 4. On that day, all survivors will gather to play Day 2, looking to advance in one of the most important events on the European circuit.
With a guaranteed prize pool of €2.500.000, the Irish Poker Open continues to grow year after year and promises a high-level finish, with Latin hopes still in the race thanks to Gotuzzo and the Brazilian army. And those yet to join…
