Tony Gregg reaparece a lo grande y conquista su primer título en el PGT

Tony Gregg

Estados Unidos
proved once again that class is never lost. In Event #7 of the PokerGO Cup 2026, a US$10.100 No-Limit Hold’em, the American made his way through 67 entries to claim his first PokerGO Tour title, pocketing US$173.075 and 201 PGT points in a victory that could mark his return to the circuit’s most active elite.

Although not a regular name at PGT stops, Gregg is far from an unknown. With more than US$13 million in live earnings, a crown at the 2012 WPT Parx Open Poker Classic and a WSOP bracelet in 2013, his record speaks for itself. This time, moreover, the title came in just his second PGT cash, a tremendous efficiency for a player who today competes much less frequently than in other stages of his career.

“What I’ve tried to value most on this trip is how much I enjoy the process of playing every day,” Gregg explained after the victory. He also acknowledged that he had had a previous bad run, but chose to focus on accepting that variance as a natural part of the circuit.

The tournament distributed a prize pool of US$670.000 among the top ten and left a final table of enormous hierarchy. After the bubble elimination of Justin Zaki

Estados Unidos
, the definition heated up until entering tough territory. Jeremy Ausmus

fell first on the decisive day when his kings were cracked by Chris Hunichen

, who shortly after would also be a victim of Gregg. That’s where the champion’s comeback began to take shape.

Later, Landon Tice

bowed out in fifth place and Neil Warren fell fourth, before Qinghai Pan

, the leader when action resumed, was eliminated in third place to record his fifth cash of the series.

The heads-up against Darren Elias

Estados Unidos
was a clash of giants. Both agreed to an ICM deal, but the trophy remained at stake. Elias took the lead, although Gregg managed to double up at the right time with A-K against A-2. Shortly after, he sealed the deal when his J-10 hit two pair against Elias’s K-6.

With this result, Gregg climbed to 11° place on the PokerGO Cup leaderboard and 38° place in the overall PGT rankings.
