Pornography, masturbation and poker: Juan Martin Pastor gives his controversial opinion and opens the debate

Juan Martin Pastor

Juan Martín Pastor

Argentina
has been one of the most prominent poker players in the world. A few years ago, he rubbed shoulders with the best in history and crushed high stakes online after reaching the highest rank in online poker by becoming a PokerStars Super Nova Elite. Today he no longer actively plays as a player, but rather as a mental coach. In a recent interview with Daniel Pina
España
, the Argentine legend shared his thoughts on several topics that are not usually addressed in the poker world.

The talk began in a very formal manner, with a proper introduction, in which xPastorcitox told how his evolution went from his facet as a player to his present as a mental coach. This led the talk into an analysis of the health and mindset problems that players often face, completing the segment with Pastor suggesting an “ideal routine for a professional poker player”, based on conscious growth and the creation of healthy habits.

The second half of the talk focused on his career as a player. Juan Martín not only reviewed the toughest moments of his career, but also talked about how he felt playing as a SuperNova Elite at the peak as well as the best rivals he has faced.

During the last stage of the interview, a follower sent a question to Juan Martín, asking about his opinion on the consumption of pornography, a topic that is not usually addressed in the poker world, but is common in the entire population. Pastor, true to his style, was blunt about it.

“The worst thing there is”, Pastor replied. “Pornography is… you know how we were talking about setting dopamine on fire? Well, pornography is suppressing your dopamine to zero, basically. Not only that, but also masturbating frequently makes you release the… I mean, semen is energy, sexual energy, and it is one of the most powerful energies we have. If you want to save your testosterone, you want to save that energy which is what will make you function… It is directly related to your ambition, the desire to go in search of goals, the fact of not staying idle. All of that is related to your energy levels and sexual energy,” the mental coach explained.

“In my opinion, probably zero masturbation would be ideal if you have sexual relations with your partner or whatever. I think ejaculating between 2 and 4 times at most per week would be what I’d recommend to sustain this. That would be my recommendation because it is, literally, releasing your energy,” he continued.

“That’s just talking about masturbation; if we combine it with pornography, it leads to many problems. It leads you to a reality that doesn’t exist. It will make it so that when you find yourself in sexual situations in real life, you see them completely distorted by those things and you compare yourself with what is not real. And your levels of what you will need to get excited will be completely distorted because you will be used to a beastly level of stimulation because the things that happen in pornography have nothing to do with reality, which is what really matters; those are the levels of stimulation you should be used to,” the former player concluded.
