They are very few, but there are times when suffering a bad beat with an excellent hand can end up being something favorable. As in the case of this player, who lost a hand with a straight flush, but ended up activating the bad beat jackpot for a prize of US$100,000.
The hand occurred in a $2/$5 NLH cash game at Hustler Casino. This poker room has been offering its own version of the bad beat jackpot for some time now, named the Super Jackpot. The promotion began in September 2025, but it’s only now that a qualifying hand has appeared.
Initially, for the Super Jackpot to be triggered, a player had to lose with a straight flush to the queen, at a minimum, and both players had to use their two hole cards to make their hand. Each week, the qualifying hand became a little more accessible, until finally the hand that activated the jackpot became a pair of 2s, which became an extra motivation to go play.

Finally, this Tuesday, a player with 6 5 went all-in on a board 7 7 8 8 9. There were approximately US$200 in the pot when the player with the straight flush went all-in for US$140. Incredibly, his opponent had J 10 making a superior straight flush. If the other player had four of a kind of 7s or 8s, the jackpot would also have been activated.
The player who lost the hand took 40% of the jackpot, that is, US$40,000. The winner took US$20,000, and the other six players at the table split the remaining 40%, receiving approximately US$6,600 each.
