Many times, big bluffs, bad beats, and coolers get all the attention, and very rarely do folds receive the importance they deserve. That’s why we want to highlight the performance of Sameh Elamawy in the Super High Roller Cash Game, where he made one of the most impressive folds of the year so far.
The action began with Elamawy limping with K 10 at a US$500/US$1,000 table with a US$2,000 straddle. Eric Wasserson

The flop showed 2 8 4, giving Gavri an Ace-high flush draw and Elamawy a King-high flush draw. After his rivals checked, Gavri continued for another US$20,000, which was called by both Elamawy and Wasserson.

On the turn, the 7 appeared, and all three players checked. The J on the river completed the flush for both players, and Elamawy decided to bet US$50,000 out of turn. Wasserson folded, and Gavri, after thinking for a few minutes, decided to raise to US$250,000.
Sameh Elamawy stared at the felt for a few seconds and finally said “Nop” as he tossed his cards into the muck, conceding the US$403,500 pot to his rival. When he showed his hand to Gavri, he was incredulous and congratulated him: “Good for you. Great fold.”
