The comparison with Duolingo is no coincidence. Octopi Academy bets on guided learning, structured in modules, with clear progression and a playful approach that aims to combat one of the biggest problems in modern poker study: boredom. In theory, the model could attract both recreational players and grinders looking for a more organized study routine.
However, the promise of “making learning fun” is not new to the industry. Several poker schools have tried to introduce these types of behaviors, guided routes, or progressive plans, with mixed results. The real challenge for Octopi will be to prove that its approach is not just a marketing spin, but a real pedagogical improvement.
The academy will begin with a 12-week guided program focused on multi-table tournaments (MTTs), scheduled to start on February 25 and run until the end of May. The project also plans to assemble a roster of elite coaches, reinforcing a team that already includes figures like Stephen Chidwick
