Although his results might suggest otherwise, Jorge is not a professional poker player. He lives off his work, but enjoys poker as a hobby that is starting to yield very good results.

«I play online 2 or 3 times a week and only tournaments. I also take the opportunity to mark hands and then watch them at lunch when I’m working. Although I study on my own, I’ve been taking group classes with Miguel Alarcón for some time,» he explained.

Knowing that I have limited time with poker helps me understand my reality. And that, in turn, helps me manage my emotions. Also, since my life doesn’t depend on poker results, I can approach everything more easily.
During the pandemic, with a lot of free time at home, he started playing more and more, reaching levels he had never reached before. However, he inevitably faced the natural ups and downs of the game, but his healthy relationship with poker allows him to enjoy the game despite the results.
«During the pandemic, I started playing a lot and managed to build a good bankroll. That’s why I moved up, but I had a tremendous downswing because I wasn’t at the level to play those stakes. That’s why my goal, today, is to learn and keep enjoying the game, because there’s a lot of talk about bankroll management, but not so much about skill management,» Romero said.
And he added:
The key is to enjoy the game. That’s the starting point if you want to dedicate yourself to this. If you can achieve that, the results will be a consequence. But you have to understand that it’s not all about the money you win, but about how you feel when you play.
