A case that still shocks the Misiones city of Eldorado and went viral has added a new chapter: the Ministry of Public Health of Misiones has ordered the preventive suspension for 30 days without pay for Romina Enríquez, an employee of the local SAMIC Hospital, as part of the judicial investigation for an alleged scam against families of secondary school students.

The decision was made official through Resolution No. 14/2026 and, as explained by the health department, aims to preserve institutional integrity while the case progresses. They also clarified that this is a preventive administrative measure and does not imply a conviction.

Graduation Trip Funds That Went to the Casino

The case came to light last December and generated a strong social reaction. Enríquez, mother of a student from Provincial School of Commerce No. 19, had been put in charge of managing the money that families had collected for eight months for the graduation party of 35 students.

According to information that emerged during the investigation, over 17 million were allegedly spent at the casino, a fact that connects the case with the impact that problematic gambling behaviors can have when combined with the management of other people’s money.

“We were too naive and placed all our trust in one person,” said Mónica B., a student’s mother. She also recounted that they had repeatedly asked for receipts and contracts, but always received excuses or promises that they would be presented later.

The situation forced the families to reorganize at the last minute to avoid canceling the reception, causing a strong emotional blow to the students, who saw one of the most anticipated moments of the school year in jeopardy.
