The controversy shows no signs of letting up in Texas. The Lodge Card Club, the state’s largest poker room and one of the most iconic in the United States, remains at the center of the storm following the operation carried out by the Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission (TABC), which raided the premises on Tuesday morning and left a wave of doubt, speculation, and tension among its users.
Amidst the chaos, prominent grinder Doug Polk

Tom Dwan was left with that face after reading Polk’s response to his comment.
Polk described the process as a true “witch hunt,” making it clear that he considers the investigation an excessive attack against The Lodge. But the most explosive moment came when he responded on the social network X to a comment from Tom Dwan
«Much of your brand has been built on going after people in moments like this. I hope you can take a minute to reflect and realize the negatives of some of those decisions. I hope you do this kind of thing less often in the future», Dwan fired off.

Polk’s response was brutal and unfiltered. He claimed to have personally guaranteed the safety of player funds while this conflict with the TABC continues, and then fired back at Dwan, reminding him of alleged million-dollar debts, “you still allegedly owe tens of millions. Better shut up,” Polk stated.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains total. Players who were seated at the tables during the operation were reportedly instructed to take their chips and return with them once the room reopens to cash them out. For now, The Lodge remains closed and there is no clarity on when it will be able to operate again.
The impact has already reached the competitive calendar: a special World Poker Tour event, scheduled to be held this week at the club, has been postponed due to the situation.
For now, the exact reason behind the intervention is not publicly known. And in a scenario where rumors abound and certainties are lacking, The Lodge has been caught in a story that mixes poker, politics, regulation, and egos. A cocktail as Texan as it is explosive.
