Poker continues to seek new ways to conquer audiences and now it will be the turn of a project that promises to mix the best of the mental game with the tension of television reality shows. The protagonist behind this bet is Kevin Martin
Martin, also known as “KMart,” is no stranger to the entertainment world. Besides winning the fifth season of Big Brother Canada, he also participated in shows like The Amazing Race and The Traitors. In poker, many remember him for his appearance on Game of Gold, the successful reality show produced by GGPoker.
A new concept of poker show
“I have been imagining this game for years. I wanted to create a show where players not only had to play poker but also survive alliances, betrayals, and social decisions,” Martin explained when announcing the project.
Poker Wars will be broadcast for free between May 21 and 24 through the YouTube and Twitch channels of KMartPoker (@kmartpoker). Six participants will compete for a grand prize of CAD$50,000, including well-known faces from the poker and streaming worlds.
But this will not be a simple online tournament broadcast, according to a report from Pokernews.

The charm of the format is that poker will be only part of the game. There will be votes, eliminations, special advantages, unexpected twists, and social dynamics that could completely change the course of the competition. Even if a player loses chips, they can still survive thanks to their strategic ability off the table.
Another innovative element will be the integration between online poker and live content. During some stages, the audience will be able to register in online tournaments and face the contestants directly, transforming the experience into something much more interactive than a traditional stream.
Martin assured that the project is being fully funded out of his own pocket and acknowledged that it is a risky bet. However, he believes that poker needs to evolve to attract new generations.
“This is the poker show I always dreamed of. We want the stories, emotions, and decisions of the players to be the true driving force of the show,” he concluded.
