Everything exploded in just the second hand of the episode. With a US$400 straddle in play, O’Malley opened the action from the cutoff and Taylor defended the big blind. The flop hit hard for both: the UFC fighter hit two pair, while Taylor found an open-ended straight draw.

The curious thing was that O’Malley decided to check behind on the flop, a decision that would end up costing him dearly. The turn completed the straight for Taylor and from there the ambush began. After a small bet from the UFC champion, the Loose Cannon responded with a raise that O’Malley called without suspecting the worst.

The river changed nothing and Taylor fired a US$9,400 bet into a US$14,100 pot. O’Malley went into the tank, hesitated, thought… but finally called. Seconds later he received the cold bucket of water: the first knockout of the season had happened on the felt.
